Your first steps
1. Talk to Orin
Section titled “1. Talk to Orin”Orin the Dockmaster stands by the welcome board at lobby spawn. Talk to him (or type /guide).
The first time you talk to him you get a starter kit: a stone sword, pickaxe, axe and shovel, a golden shovel for claiming land, 16 torches and 8 cooked cod.
2. Do Orin’s tour
Section titled “2. Do Orin’s tour”The tour has five steps. Do them in any order; they tick off by themselves.
- Go through the east arch to Survival.
- Claim land in Survival: place a chest (it claims the area around it), or use the golden shovel.
- Set a home inside your claim:
/sethome, or sleep in a bed there. - Visit the Mining world through the west arch.
- Accept a quest from one of the four keepers in the stalls round the World Tree.
When all five are done, go back to Orin and claim your reward: 250 Stardust, an Uncommon key, the [Arrival] title and the Lantern Owl companion. Finishing the tour also unlocks your backpack.
Still on the tour? You’ll get a short reminder when you join with what’s left.
3. Open your backpack
Section titled “3. Open your backpack”/backpack or /bp opens personal storage that goes everywhere with you on Main and is never dropped when you die. It starts with
one row; you can upgrade it to five. See Inventory tools.

Section titled “4. Pick what you want to do”| If you want to… | Go to |
